Being an Omega fan these days can sometimes feel like being a fan of Al Pacino. No matter how much I love Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, The Panic in Needle Park (hell, I even liked Cruising) there’s nothing that forgives the atrocities he’s made ever since giving up acting in favor of playing a parody of himself (88 minutes springs to mind). How does this relate to Omega? Well, as much as I appreciate their effort trying to challenge some of their more upmarket competitors, I can’t help feeling like Omega’s best and most classical design days are behind them.

Over the 2002, I’ve gained a great deal of respect and admiration for Omega. The company has an incredibly rich history, and the quality of their watches is first rate. The brand name also carries with it a degree of recognition and prestige. In January of this year, I acquired a Seamaster GMT, which I really love. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I’d want another Omega.

To celebrate the anniversary of the first and the only watch worn on the Moon, the Omega company has launched the commemorative version of the Speedmaster - the Speedmaster Professional Chronograph Moonwatch.

The first Omega Constellation watch was launched in 1892 and since then it has become well known for its distinctive style and mechanism. Over the years new pieces have been developed and created under the Constellation collection and each one bears a strong resemblance to its ancestor.
